Update on my continuous heathly HCG weight loss program........

Hello everyone. My daughter and her family moved to CA so she can start a business of her own. My granddaughter stayed with me 9/16/10 till 12/16/10 so she can finished out her high school semester. During that time frame saw Halloween, Thanksgiving and some of Christmas holidays together. It was very challenging for me as I cooked her breakfast everyday and dinner everyday except for some of the days she spent staying the night with her girlfriends. I have so far managed to reach my goal of 140 lbs and also my second goal of 135 lbs. Now I have been managing between 135 lbs to 140 lbs during the holidays. I will be glad when the New Year Day gets here and looking forward for 2011 to be a better year for me. My third goal is to reach 132 lbs for 2011. During 2010 I had broke up with a long time boyfriend, lost my job, and my daughter and her family moved to CA and I am alone and still have not found a job in this economy. My son will be coming home 1/21/11 and we will try to re-connect with each other.

Below are photos that my granddaugther took of be about 2-3 weeks of me stilling managing my weight program. I look forward to 2011 to get back into finishing my self help program book and publishing it in 2011!

10 Health Benefits of Cinnamon

10 Health Benefits of Cinnamon

Studies have shown that just 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon per day can lower LDL cholesterol.

Several studies suggest that cinnamon may have a regulatory effect on blood sugar, making it especially beneficial for people with Type 2 diabetes.

In some studies, cinnamon has shown an amazing ability to stop medication-resistant yeast infections.

In a study published by researchers at the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Maryland, cinnamon reduced the proliferation of leukemia and lymphoma cancer cells.

It has an anti-clotting effect on the blood.

In a study at Copenhagen University, patients given half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder combined with one tablespoon of honey every morning before breakfast had significant relief in arthritis pain after one week and could walk without pain within one month.

When added to food, it inhibits bacterial growth and food spoilage, making it a natural food preservative.

One study found that smelling cinnamon boosts cognitive function and memory.

Researchers at Kansas State University found that cinnamon fights the E. coli bacteria in unpasteurized juices.

10. It is a great source of manganese, fiber, iron, and calcium.

10 Health Benefits of Red Wine

Not everyone chooses to drink alcohol, but those who do are probably smart to choose red wine. Every year, the research on the health benefits of red wine piles up. Wine has always been a staple in the human diet. In fact, scientists have documented red wine as far back as 5400 B.C.

Here are ten reasons to drink red wine (in moderation of course!)

Sleep
New research shows that red wine, especially Cabernet Sauvignon, Chianti, and Merlot, contains melatonin. Melatonin regulates the body clock, so drinking a glass of red wine before bed may help you sleep. Melatonin is also an anti-oxidant, which means it also has anti-aging and cancer preventative properties.

Longevity
A compound in red wine called resveratrol has been shown to increase lifespan in animal studies.

Brain Health
Resveratrol has been shown to protect against Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

Heart Health
Red wine has been shown to reduce the risk of heart and cardiovascular disease thanks to the resveratrol and other anti-oxidants it contains.

Lung Cancer
Researchers from the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain found that each glass of red wine per day reduced the risk of lung cancer by 13%.

Prostate Cancer
Four or more glasses of red wine per week has been shown to reduce men's overall risk of prostate cancer by 50% and the risk of the most aggressive forms of prostate cancer by 60%.

Breast Cancer
Moderate consumption of red wine is believed to lower the risk of breast cancer. However, drinking more than 1 or 2 alcoholic drinks per day appears to increase the risk of breast cancer in women, so moderation is key.

Colds
Researchers in Spain found that people who drank more than two glasses of red wine per day have 44% fewer colds than people who abstained.

Inflammation
Resveratrol has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which helps overall physical health since many diseases and ailments can be attributed to inflammation.

Cholesterol
Resveratrol has been found in studies to lower LDL cholesterol, while another ingredient in red wine, saponins, also have cholesterol lowering properties.

8 Health Benefits of Blueberries

8 Health Benefits of Blueberries

Cancer
Several compounds in blueberries are known cancer fighters, such as resveratrol, flavanols, and anthocyanins. One impressive study found that the phytochemicals in blueberries worked together to stop the growth and spread of triple-negative breast cancer, a type of breast cancer that carries a poorer prognosis than other forms of breast cancer.

Alzheimer's Disease
Researchers believe that consumption of blueberries may help prevent the cognitive decline associated with Alzheimer's disease. One recent study found that consumption of wild blueberry juice improved memory in seniors.

Hepatitis C
Studies have found that a chemical in blueberry leaves can slow the progression of disease in people infected with hepatitis C.

Heart Disease
The antioxidants and many other wonderful properties of blueberries all contribute to a stronger heart and cardiovascular function.

Urinary Tract Infections
Studies have found blueberries to be potentially helpful in preventing urinary tract infections by inhibiting the growth of the bacteria that cause these infections.

Cholesterol
Studies in mice have found that a compound in blueberries lowers consumption as effectively as statin drugs but without the side effects.

Blood Pressure
Animals studies have found that blueberry consumption helped to regular blood pressure.

Antioxidants
Blueberries are full of antioxidants and phytochemicals that help prevent disease, including anthocyanins, a potent antioxidant that helps to reduce inflammation.

Health Benefits of Artichokes........

There are many ways to reap the amazing health benefits of artichokes. While many people's favorite part is the heart, it is the leaves that contain many of the artichoke's powerful health benefits.

There are ways to cook an artichoke, such as steaming or braising, so that the entire thing, stem and all, can be consumed. However, even eating just the meat of the leaves and the heart will provide benefits.

Here are 8 reasons to add more artichokes to your diet.

High in Antioxidants
A study done by the USDA found that artichokes have more antioxidants than any other vegetable and they ranked seventh in a study of the antioxidant levels of 1,000 different foods. Some of the powerful antioxidants in artichokes are quercertin, rutin, anthocyanins, cynarin, luteolin, and silymarin.

Cancer Prevention and Treatment
Studies done with artichoke leaf extract have found that they induce apoptosis (cell death) and reduce cell proliferation in many different forms of cancer, including prostate cancer, leukemia, and breast cancer. An Italian study found that a diet rich in the flavanoids present in artichokes reduces the risk of breast cancer.

Increased Bile Flow
The pulp of artichoke leaves contains a polyphenol antioxidant called cynarin which increases bile flow.

Good for the Liver
Thanks to cynarin and another antioxidant, silymarin, artichokes are very beneficial to the liver. Studies have found they may even regenerate liver tissue. Artichokes have long been used in folk and alternative medicine as a treatment for liver ailments and the scientific studies are now proving them to be correct.

Better Digestion
Artichokes help the digestive system. They are a natural diuretic, they aid digestion, improve gallbladder function and, as mentioned above, they are of great benefit to the liver.

Hangover Treatment
Thanks to their positive effects on the liver, many people swear by artichokes as a hangover treatment. Instead of the hair of the dog, try the leaves of an artichoke.

Cholesterol Reduction
Ingredients in artichoke leaves have been shown to reduce cholesterol by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase. They raise good cholesterol (HDL) and lower bad cholesterol (LDL).

High in Fiber
One large artichoke contains a quarter of the recommended daily intake of fiber. A medium artichoke has more fiber than a cup of prunes.
